I made a few of these bags as the pattern is very fun and easy!

I purchased the pattern (Bond Street from Poppy Patterns) and the fabric from the Calico Whale in Valdez. I made a couple of bags for my children's teachers at the end of the school year.

I love this peek-a-boo tote! |
The Ruthie Clutch is an Anna Maria Horner pattern. It's little more tricky, but really fun to sew. I love using vintage buttons, and this bag is perfect for that!

Another AMH pattern (my absolute favorite, if anyone was wondering) is the Multi-tasker Tote. Love this bag! I truly live out of it. I have made several, and can't seem to quit. Thank you, Anna, for the world's most awesome bag. All three samples below are from her fabric line, most still available at

I am quite aware that I have a bag fetish. Don't care. Love making them and love taking classes on how to make them. This is my bungalow bag. Took this class at the Calico Whale. I then went home and made a matching cell phone bag from the book "
The New Handmade."
I love the fabric line so much that I made a cute messenger with my left over yardage. I also found the pattern in the
New Handmade. The fact that I had enough yardage to make another bag is indicative of a serious fabric obsession, but I'll deal with that later.

My last summer sewing project of 2011 was AMH's "I'll take one of everything bag." I believe it has become another one of my favorite patterns. The pattern can be found in her book "Seams to Me" and was pretty easy to follow. I stumbled a bit while sewing in the lining, but this was my first attempt. The handles are made from torn, braided strips of fabric. I'll be making this one again very soon! Great way to use up some favorite fabric scraps.
